Bring on 2014

It’s amazing how quickly time flies. 2013 flew right by me. In a year filled with ups and downs 2013 was indeed filled with love, support, and growth. I did so many things I’ve never done before such as get an apartment, played a voice on a video game, went on commercial auditions, took commercial classes, took part in proper tailgating, and hit some major weight loss goals.

First, I would like to thank all of you for supporting me. It means a lot to me that people care enough about me to have a look at my ramblings about trying to become an actress. This blog is fun for me; I do it because I want to not because I feel obligated. It makes me happy when I can connect with others through my blog. So thank you!

Second, I would like to share some of my resolutions for the new year. Although I am not calling them “new years resolutions,” I am calling them goals and lifestyle changes. So here are my current persnoal goals/lifestyle changes for 2014:

  1. (part 1.) Stop spending money I don’t have (on items). I make money and instead of saving/investing I spend it – usually on items I don’t need. I feel “rich” because I do make a nice amount but I spend impulsively. My parents aren’t helping me, I’ve got bills to pay, and I often don’t realize how much I could have saved by now had I not walked in to that Forever 21 store.
(part 2.) Do spend money on experiences. I read in “The Happiness Advantage” by Shawn Achor that spending money on experiences with friends/family rather than superficial items can contribute to our long term happiness. There is no buyers remorse if you got to spend time with the people you care about most.
  2. Continue building healthy habits. It takes doing something 7 times (I think) for it to become a habit and I built a few great habits this year! I (try to) go to the gym at least 3 times a week and I pay much more attention to the food I put in my body. I am no “health freak” but I will use this year to become even more healthy and physically active. Goals include: Run a 5k, healthy breakfast every morning, and less caffeine.
  3. Jump start my career. I have been in the city for over a year now and career-wise I am pretty much in the same place. I have taken my sweet time to get settled… I’ve been doggie paddling in the shallow end but now it’s time to dive into the deep end. I will network, I will take classes, I will go on auditions. I will, by the end of this year, have a more certain career path.

Third, I wanted to do a brief reflection of last year. Last year I answered a series of questions about my year so let’s do it again! (Feel free to skip to the end and watch my instagram videos!)

1:What did you do in 2013 that you’d never done before?
I said some before: my apartment, voiced video game, commercial auditions, commercial classes, and tailgating but I also: met the Phelp’s twins, GBD NYC, turned 24, saw my best friend perform live stand up comedy, watched my little sister graduate high school (& turn 18, & start college), went to a fashion show (designed by a friend), saw Ed Sheeran perform live, stalked a movie premiere, “had dinner” with Tracy Morgan, won a ticket lottery (BOOK OF MORMON), had a surprise party thrown for me,  tried all sorts of new food/drinks, and probably more that I can’t think of!

35:Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2013.
It is important to love yourself. Not in a conceited superficial way but in a comfortable unselfish way. Know that you are enough, whatever the situation may be. Stay strong. Stop seeing other people as obstacles. And I think most importantly, Let go of the past because it is in the past. Live in the present and the now! (which I sort of said last year too!)

36:Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.
“Whoa oh oh oh
Well this is life in color (color)
Today feels like no other (other)
And the darkest grays
The sun bursts, clouds break

Whoa oh oh oh
Well this is life in motion (motion)
And just when I could run this race no more
The sun bursts, clouds break
This is life in color”
Life in Color by OneRepublic
